This report seeks to inform questions about why the early childhood education field has not developed capacity to systematically engage in field-wide work to lead on its own behalf. It examines whether field-wide leadership is exercised in other fields and how other fields address issues having significance and consequence for their fields of practice overall. It describes field-wide leadership in five fields of practice: financial planning, nursing, opportunity finance, quality management, and social work.
